The goal of Meter is to create a publicly accessible workshop β a space for creativity and exchange in St. Gallen. The premises are designed to provide users with easy access to tools, machines, and space to create, experiment, produce, and try new things.
Meter's infrastructure includes woodworking, metalworking, textile, and ceramics workshops, as well as a lounge area. Each workshop is supervised to facilitate the introduction to machines and independent work.
The open workshop offerings are complemented by educational programs such as workshops. This aims to promote knowledge transfer, strengthen cultural participation, and foster intergenerational and intercultural exchange. Furthermore, independent work is intended to promote DIY and recycling, thereby promoting sustainability. -

Meter offers introductory courses and workshops that help users safely operate machines in their wood and metal workshops. For certain equipment, like metal machines and specific woodworking tools, completing an intro course is mandatory before independent use.
