Searching
for a
shared workshop
or a
makerspace?
workshopmatters.ch aims to shed light on existing co-workshops and makerspaces in Switzerland through a comprehensive database and interactive mapping. Considering the need for tool and machine equipped work environments for creatives, the project aspires to be an accessible, easy to navigate platform fostering exchange in a community local setting. www.workshopmatters.ch’s mission is to empower designers, makers, creative freelancers, artists or small-scale studios to find a place for prototyping, producing, experimenting, conducting practice-based research, building temporary installations or unique pieces.
The project is inspired by personal experience as a designer, and by witnessing fellow designers’ and artists’ needs, struggle and success stories. The project started during Victoria Paeva’s MA thesis in HGK Basel (2022), at the Institute for Visual Communication & Iconic Research.
